As I sit down to write, I realize that our “Holiday” time of the year came and went without an official blog post. This time of year can be so busy with tasks that are outside out day to day activities that routine things can get overlooked. As I realize how easily two months pass with the ‘blink of an eye’, I also realize that we are all put here to help each other. Wikipedia defines accountability as the quality of being responsible for one’s actions and decisions.
We can all use accountability partners.

Gone are the days of thinking you can maintain your wellness by seeing the dentist twice a year. This standard began around 1900. Remember that before this, seeing the dentist was only reserved for toothaches. And you were likely seeing the dentist who was also the barber. Going twice a year was already a big step forward for dentistry!
Fast forward to 2026:
Dentistry is not only for cleaning your teeth. At your routine hygiene appointment, you are screened for oral cancer, your blood pressure is checked, your pH is tested and we can evaluate your risk for disease. During your hygiene appointment, your hygienist will determine how often she should see you for appointments. She will also give you homework to assist in prevention.
We are your accountability team.
We will ensure you know what treatment is needed.
We will ensure you are scheduled for your appointments.
We know that the least amount of dentistry is the best dentistry.
We will help you get there and we will celebrate with you!
